According to the traditional and historical equivalence usually applied by the Real Estate Conservator, a Chilean cuadra is equivalent to 15,725.16 square metres, a little over one and a half hectares. The figure follows from its definition: 150 varas per side, and the Chilean legal vara measures 0.836 metres.
What is the minimum measurement to subdivide rural land in hectares?+
Decree Law 3516 sets the minimum area of each resulting lot at half a hectare, that is 5,000 square metres. The area is measured in full: rights of way are not deducted. The only route below that minimum is the Sabag Law, which allows lots of between 500 and 1,000 square metres and only for transfer to a direct relative.
